Six Months In- Hiking Roundup

**These hikes took place on O’odham, Akimel O’odham, and Yavapai Apache lands** My parents sent us a Phoenix hiking guidebook when we first moved in and our first hike was the closest one mentioned in the guidebook (Lookout Mountain). It had been a bit since we had picked another trail from there with so many… Read More Six Months In- Hiking Roundup

Rocky Road and the Quickest Way Down

**We camped and hiked on Hopi, Pueblo, and Tonto Apache lands** After visiting Sedona with my parents a few weeks ago Kirk and I knew that we wanted to do more hiking in the area. Sedona was a split between the desert and Flagstaff area. The landscape was dramatic with pine trees littering the hillsides… Read More Rocky Road and the Quickest Way Down

An Audio Tour and the Trails that Lied to Us

Four Months In – Hiking Roundup

**These hikes took place on O’odham, Akimel O’odham, and Yavapai Apache lands** It’s time for another round up of new hikes! A Chilled Camping Weekend

Before moving from Kansas we had a fantastic camping trip with my sister, one of her friends, and a friend of mine. We had a wonderful time in the Ozarks camping with friends and had planned on doing more trips like that. Then Kirk got a new job and we were sad to give up… Read More A Chilled Camping Weekend

Sea of Saguaros

Since we had a three day weekend we decided to explore outside the city more. This time our destination was Saguaro National Park. We woke up at 3:30am to drive down and hit the Desert Discovery Trail just as the sun was rising. Every time a trail has plant identification signs we’re thrilled. There is… Read More Sea of Saguaros

Prescott, Like Biscuit

To get away from the brutal desert heat we headed north to Prescott. Prescott has a history as an Old West town and was founded by Colonel William Prescott, a notable person during the Revolutionary War. To establish his allegiance to his new country he changed the pronunciation of his last name from “Pres-cot” to… Read More Prescott, Like Biscuit

Two Months In – Hiking Roundup

Since we’ve moved out here, almost a month and a half ago, we’ve hiked every weekend. Most of these hikes have been about 2 hours or less than 5 miles. It gets hot quick! Usually we wake up at 5 to head to a trailhead and by 6 it’s 95+ degrees. Once the sun hits… Read More Two Months In – Hiking Roundup

The first time we visited Usery we knew we’d be back to hike a handful of trails we have our sights on. This time it was Pass Mountain, a scenic 7.5 mile trail that holds great views and diverse flora!
Traveled to the opposite end of the valley from the previous weekend. Considering our hiking trail was designed as a competitive track, we were worried there would be more mountain bikers than last weekend. We only ran into two at the very start…oh well, more trails for us!
Lots of desert life and some intense mountain bikers over at Usery! Check out the last frame for a one of a kind sight
The first time we visited Sedona, we knew we had to visit again…little did we realize it would be us camping two weeks later! We detailed this trip on our latest blog post (link in our bio). Also, check out the last frame to experience the treat awaiting us at the bottom of the canyon!
Thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring South Mountain last month. I’m sure only the first of many future trips! Check out the last frame to see the passage through the Hidden Valley Natural Tunnel
Caught a new loop at the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve with some great views and awesome scenery
