One Year Later…

Oh boy, I thought last time I posted it had been a while between posts! We have had a busy year living life. Some highlights from the past year to follow. We’ve taken several camping trips in the past year. Flagstaff and Prescott before the weather got too cold. Sedona, which has possibly become a… Read More One Year Later…

A Fog Filled Canyon With a Side of Altitude Sickness

**This trip took place on Havasupai, Hualapai, Hopi, Kaibab Paiute, Navajo (Diné), and Yavapai Apache lands** A few weeks ago for Kirk’s birthday we headed up to the Grand Canyon for a long weekend. It was a much needed break from work for both of us and I was very excited to finally see the… Read More A Fog Filled Canyon With a Side of Altitude Sickness

Rocky Road and the Quickest Way Down

**We camped and hiked on Hopi, Pueblo, and Tonto Apache lands** After visiting Sedona with my parents a few weeks ago Kirk and I knew that we wanted to do more hiking in the area. Sedona was a split between the desert and Flagstaff area. The landscape was dramatic with pine trees littering the hillsides… Read More Rocky Road and the Quickest Way Down

A Chilled Camping Weekend

Before moving from Kansas we had a fantastic camping trip with my sister, one of her friends, and a friend of mine. We had a wonderful time in the Ozarks camping with friends and had planned on doing more trips like that. Then Kirk got a new job and we were sad to give up… Read More A Chilled Camping Weekend

A Few of Our Favorite Things

This year has been a big one for us! A few quick highlights: we went to New York City, we got married, and we adopted two cats! Honeymoon: Part 4

Florida was a blast and we were looking forward to the next leg of our trip! First up was lunch in Montgomery, at a Jamaican restaurant. We walked down the street a bit to read historical marker signs but it was really hot and our cramped legs weren’t louder than the heat. Our timing into… Read More Honeymoon: Part 4

Honeymoon: Part 3

For the drive from New Orleans to Pensacola, we took the scenic route along the coast and boy was it worth it! This was the first time in a long time that either of us had visited the Gulf Coast and even longer for Kirk being near the ocean. We made a pit stop in… Read More Honeymoon: Part 3

Honeymoon: Part 1

After getting coffee and breakfast, we headed out to Springfield, Missouri for lunch. The restaurant we went to was called Van Gogh’s Eeterie. It was super cute and the food was absolutely delicious with lots of vegetarian friendly options. After a short walk up and down the street we switched drivers and headed to Memphis.… Read More Honeymoon: Part 1

Labor Day Weekend

After our New York trip and wedding we didn’t have very much vacation time left for weekend getaways, so we decided to camp somewhere close. Unfortunately that didn’t work out as well as we hoped. We left work early so we could explore Powell Gardens before heading to our campsite. Powell Gardens looked run down… Read More Labor Day Weekend

Johnson’s Shut-Ins

We kicked off the beginning of summer with our twice annual weekend camping trip in southeast Missouri. There has been quite a bit of rain in this area of the country throughout the spring and the effects were very much evident on our drive over there. Columbia is about halfway and they have a better… Read More Johnson’s Shut-Ins
